ORIBE Bright Blonde Radiance & Repair Treatment: Review

When I first ordered ORIBE Bright Blonde Radiance & Repair Treatment I thought it was going to be a leave in treatment like a serum. It’s actually a shower treatment to replace a conditioner. Details per Oribe:

Stay bright with our restorative silkening treatment specially formulated for blondes. This lightweight concentrate repairs and prevents damage, brittleness and split ends leaving hair ultra-soft while violet pigments tone to keep brassiness at bay.

Benefits

  • Repairs damaged, porous blonde hair
  • Instantly brightens and tones brassiness
  • Treats existing damage and prevents future damage
  • Immediately increases elasticity and softens dry, brittle strands
  • Won’t weigh down baby fine blonde hair
  • Seals split ends

How To Use

After shampooing, mist generously through clean, damp hair. Leave on for one to three minutes. Rinse. Use once a week in place of a conditioner or as needed.

Key Ingredients

Oribe Signature Complex (Watermelon, Lychee and Edelweiss Flower Extracts) defends hair from oxidative stress, photoaging and the deterioration of natural keratin all while protecting from the drying, damaging and color-depleting effects of the elements.

Blend of Moringa, Olive and Sunflower Oils treats the hair shaft to provide damage repair and deep hydration.

Proteomic Restoration Protein mimics the hair structure to target damage and repair split ends for healthier looking hair.

Blend of Artichoke and Rosemary Leaf Extracts strengthens hair to prevent future damage from brushing, styling and the elements.

Pea Extract restores softness and elasticity for hair that is visibly less damaged, porous and brittle.

Pure Violet Pigment removes brassiness and yellow tones from blonde and highlighted hair.

Brightening Complex (Lemon, Ginger Root and Chamomile Extracts) optimizes shade, tonality and luminosity.

Purple Orchid Extract, known as the flower of longevity, repairs damaged hair, conditions and prevents moisture loss.

Besides being a completely different type of product than I thought it was, this is a thin runny liquid textured product and I figured there was no way it could be hydrating enough to replace a conditioner. I was wrong. You spray this on your wet hair in the shower, then leave on and rinse. It feels like nothing is on your hair at all in the shower. It’s not heavy at all. The purple shimmery tint adds a hint of purple tone to reduce brassiness to my died blonde hair. The purple tint isn’t very noticeable.

What I was so impressed by with this product was it’s ability to hydrate my hair yet be lightweight and no added weight or heaviness at all. My hair looks glossy and just feels plain good after using it. It’s completely hydrating enough for a liquid. Which is just surprising. It can actually replace a conditioner. I has the usual Oribe floral scent. I have to use probably a dozen sprays or so to really get my hair coated well enough. So far this has lasted pretty good, I haven’t even begun to run out yet and I’ve used it a fair amount of times.

Renee Rouleau Advanced Resurfacing Serum: Review

I love Renee Rouleau products. They helped me get rid of my adult acne a few years back. I have been wanting to try the Advanced Resurfacing Serum for a while. I grabbed it during the annual sale, which happens every year in August so get ready because it’s coming soon. It’s the only sale they have all year long. Details per Renee Rouleau:

Advanced Resurfacing Serum is a retinol cream treatment to repair sun damage, lift brown spots, smooth the skin and reduce the look of lines, wrinkles and large pores over time. It is formulated for sensitive skin types and for those whose skin has been unable to tolerate prescription forms of vitamin A retinoids. This exceptional serum performs a synergy of anti-aging actives and has 0.4% of stable, time-released retinol to engage the retinol receptors for 8 hours while you sleep. The skin thickening properties of retinol are enhanced by a potent firming matrixyl peptide and glucosamine HCL to accelerate smoothing and brightening. These are all carried deep within the skin by a liposomal delivery system for maximum activity. The lower layers where collagen and elastin reside are encouraged to repair, while soothing extracts keep the skin feeling calm without dryness, peeling or irritation. With continued use, skin will look smoother and younger each day. If you’re serious about wanting to improve the look and feel of your skin’s texture without downtime, this retinol serum is perfect for you. The result? Beautiful, younger-looking skin by Renée Rouleau.

Key Ingredients

  • Microencapsulated Retinol – 0.4% (pure and bioactive) repairs visible damage while reducing the look of wrinkles and large pores.
  • Matrixl Synthe’6 (Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38) – encourages tighter, firmer skin by strengthening chain links that hold skin layers together.
  • Extracts of Mugwort, Algae, Licorice – provides soothing relief to keep skin calm.
  • Retinyl Palmitate – storage form of retinol for enhanced performance.
This serum is a light creamy style, it’s hydrating, not greasy and sinks in pretty quickly. It has an off yellow cream color. I don’t remember any scent at all. If it had one it was minimal and barely noticeable. I started using this 3x/week then built up to nightly. I had no issues using this serum nightly. I always get a few minor breakouts when I use a new retinol serum. That was all I experienced from this as far as adverse effects. I experience no redness, flaking or dryness.

I will say this serum was slow to start. I didn’t really notice much the first few weeks or so. About half way through the bottle I noticed one morning my skin just looked good. It was healthy looking, had a nice happy glow to it. My skin tone was more even and luminous. My skin texture was smoother, and a few fine lines felt plumped up. Nothing big on the fine line improvement category. The biggest bonus to this serum was the overall way my skin looked and felt–which was hydrated, happy and glowing.

So yes I would say the serum works. It’s not cheap at $84.50 for an ounce, but it did last several months. And if you get it during the August Anniversary Sale it’s even better. This has also been repackaged recently so it looks different than the bottle I have pictured here. Renee Rouleau has redone all of it’s packaging recently and even put out some new products.

Current Product Obsessions

Time to talk bout some current product obsessions. Some of these are new products I have just acquired (yet are still going through the testing phase) so expect more soon about them. Others I’ve had for a while and I’m still just obsessed with them.

I’ve actually had the Omorovicza Blue Diamond Eye Cream for a while. I stopped using it for a while to test a few new eye creams. That was a big mistake. As a result my eyes were drier and felt like a hollow shell of their normal self. I started using this again and they’ve been feeling better. This is such a lightweight eye cream, I always find it hard to believe it’s so moisturizing. It’s incredibly hydrating, sinks in quickly and is lightweight. It’s perfect for day use or even night if you don’t have really dry eyes. It’s a Hero Product of mine and review here.

Jordan Samuel Skin is a new discovery of mine. I’ve seen it all over Instagram but never taken the plunge for it. I just grabbed the Plie Treatment Cleanser. It’s quite good. It smells like citrus and has a clear oil balm like texture. You rub it onto dry skin and it washes off clean. I’m obsessed with trying pretty much any oil balm cleanser and prefer them to pure oil cleansers. More to come on this one.

I also recently grabbed Skin Owl’s new Beauty Whip Mask. It’s a light cream hydrating mask. I wasn’t sure what I was going to think about it, but it’s actually very nice. It’s not too heavy and cream based, it feels like a heavy lotion that’s intensely hydrating without being greasy. It’s just enough moisture. More to come on this one as well.

Philip Kingsley I came across on Instagram as well, then grabbed a few items from Selfridges. The Instant Beach spray is so good. It’s a salt free beach spray so it’s not drying. This manages to give texture, beach waves, and keep the texture. Most salt sprays fall flat a few hours later. Instant Beach stays true. I found a new winner. More to come on Philip Kingsley as his other stuff is quite good as well.

I remember when African Botanics came out. I have to admit I wasn’t interested at first as it was mostly oils that they produced at that time. They’re been releasing more skincare items and I finally caved and grabbed a few items. The first one I’ve been testing is the Infinite Resurfacing Mask. This is a AHA and BHA mask for exfoliation. I love the light green gel. No stinging and it’s quick, easy and effective. I like it so far. More to come on this brand and the items I’ve grabbed.

Because it’s summer here (and I pretty much melt in Texas heat and humidity) I’m sticking to minimal makeup that can stand up in the heat. Paul & Joe Beaute Gel Blush in 003 has been featured on here before. I’m still obsessed with it. Perfect light nude peach pink flush in a cooling gel texture. Best part is that it lasts all day, even here in the heat and humidity. Amazing for a gel blush.

On that same note I was skeptical of the pricey little Cle de Peau Beaute Radiant Stick Foundation. It has proved me wrong. It’s a cooling water based formula that so perfect for summer. It’s very light coverage but it will not budge off of your face all day. Even if you’re running around melting in the heat. Adore this for summer. Ocher is the shade I use, review is here.

Chanel Les Beiges range just got a new foundation–Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation. It’s a cushion foundation but a bit different than the ones I’ve tried in the past. Perfect for summer as it has a light, cooling water based texture. It also holds up pretty well like the Cle de Peau in the heat and humidity. I’m going to get more into why I like this one shortly in a longer review. Stay tuned. I have shade 30.

I still reach for the Chanel Ombre Premiere Eyeshadows in Undertone and Silver Pink weekly. When you own as many eyeshadows as I do, that says something if you still use it weekly. They hold up amazingly well in the summer heat and humidity (notice a theme with this post yet?). So quick, easy and perfect. Shame they’re limited edition. Review and swatches here.

Rituel de File Rare Light Luminizers are one of my favorite cream highlighters. Solaris is a new limited edition shade that just launched. It’s a fiery red opal shade. Love it. It just doesn’t swatch right no matter what light I use. You have to see it in person. Review and swatches here.

I snagged the Sisley Paris Phyto 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Quartet in Dream off of Selfridges when they had a sale a few weeks ago. I probably wouldn’t have bought it otherwise. I’m so glad I did as it’s really pretty. It has that thin shimmery wet and dry use texture like some of the new formulas of eyeshadows. It’s a really nice nude quad with a very fun pink shade. More to come.

Kjaer Weis Highlighter Radiance: Review & Swatches

Kjaer Weis is one of those brands I’ve always wanted to try. It fits into the category of pricey, natural, organic makeup. I usually don’t like natural organic makeup, not for the principal, but I just never like the textures or shades they put out. Kjaer Weis is definitely one of the luxe top end organic makeup brands. I finally caved and grabbed one item the Highlighter in Radiance. Details below per Kjaer Weis.

The cream formula and perfectly smooth, silky texture adds a summery “just kissed by the sun” finish to every skin tone. Ideally suited for use with the Kjær Weis Foundation and Cream Blush, the Highlighter can be used to enhance and accentuate the cheek bones, nose, or brow line, providing a subtle, youthful glow. The warm pearl color also lends itself to use as a cream eye shadow, either by itself or on top of a darker eye shadow for a subtle, iridescent finish. For best results, apply with the warmth of fingers or with the Kjær Weis Foundation Brush. The Highlighter compact is the same size as the Cream Blush compact, allowing for easy use of the Intelligent Refill System.

The compact itself is extremely luxe. It’s very weighty and will look nice on any vanity. If you’re into packaging there’s nothing you’ll hate about this brand. The silver compact swivels out to reveal the inner product. It has a magnetic closure. The best part I love about the case is that you can pop out the inner pan, with one push of a skinny object into the hole in the back, and then remove the pan. You can replace it, if you’ve used up all this product, or change it out with a blush pan if you wish. The refills are cheaper than the first purchase of both the case and the product.

Extremely pretty packaging aside, the inside houses a creamy beige pearl highlighter. The texture is soft and creamy. Not greasy or oily, but soft and creamy. The finish isn’t shiny nor glossy, it sets down to a more satin slightly matte shimmery pearl. I thought this was going to be too creamy and fade away quickly when I first swiped it, but it actually lasted pretty well with about 6-8 hours before fading.

The color is descried as a warm pearl. It’s a unique color. While it feels like a light to medium beige pearl, it has a more neutral or slight coolness to it as well. It feels more like a neutral beige pearl. It’s not a light shade either and while it works great for my light medium to medium skin tone, those with fair to pale complexions might find it too dark to work as a highlighter.

It’s not cheap at $56 for the case and product. It’s only $32 for the refills so you are paying a good portion of the up front cost to the packaging. It’s a good sized pan. I’ve used it frequently and not really made a big dent. I definitely want to try a few more Kjaer Weis items. I have my eye on a few blushes and a lipstick maybe.

La Mer The Moisturizing Matte Lotion: Review

La Mer was one of my first ventures into high end skin care almost 20 years ago. I really didn’t need La Mer when I was twenty but something about the allure of the brand is what draws you in to try it. I found the original Creme de La Mer to be way too heavy for me and at the time I went through multiple bottles of The Moisturizing Lotion instead. I lived in a dry climate and it seemed like the best for my skin at the time. I adored this lotion and used it for a number of years.

I have since branched out as I can’t help myself and stay with one brand nor formula anymore. La Mer recently discontinued its two lotion formulas and replaced them both with a new version. I’ve tried both new formulas however, as it’s summer, I’m going to start with reviewing The Moisturizing Matte Lotion. Details per La Mer:

Weightless, matte finish. NEW Moisturizing Matte Lotion defies the laws of moisture with healing hydration from Miracle BrothTM and a unique mattifying technology, to help soften away age, shine and pores. Uncover a freshly balanced complexion.

The texture is weightless and ultra light. Like a gel cream style lotion. The finish is matte. It has the most amazing velvety feel to it. It makes you just want to rub your hands all over your face because it’s so soft and velvety. The scent is minimal and very La Mer. This lotion absorbs very quickly. I love the matte white porcelain style glass bottle. It’s heavy weight and luxe. The pump allows you to dispense a full or partial pump. It takes about 1.5 pumps to cover my face well.

This lotion does have a moisturizing enough feel plus it’s matte and perfect for–summer, hot and humid climates, or oily to combination skin types. This didn’t break me out at all nor cause any adverse reactions of any kind. It helped keep oil at bay all day even in this humid Texas July summer. I had perfectly moisturized summer appropriate skin with a velvety matte finish. I will say this lotion almost acts a like a primer as well with it’s velvety finish. Your makeup will just glide on after.

I loved to layer this over a light hydrating formula. It is glorious over Tata Harper’s Illuminating Moisturizer. This was almost too dry for me on it’s own. I needed a bit more. Layering this over a light lotion mattifies the skin, gives it the velvety finish and keeps the needed moisture in the skin. If you have combination to normal skin you might want to layer it. I don’t know that I would recommend this for dry skin unless you wanted it as a matte primer over a regular face cream or lotion.

Cle de Peau Radiant Fluid Foundation O30: Review & Swatches

I’ve been playing with Cle De Peau Beaute Radiant Fluid Foundation in O30 for a while now. Details per Cle de Peau:

A liquid foundation that gives skin a dewy lustrous finish and creates a glowing veil of beauty. Emits multi-dimensional light from the surface of the complexion to provide an even radiance and a fine texture. Protects skin with broad spectrum SPF 24.

Key Benefits

  • Contains Illuminating Complex, a powerful moisture-stabilizing force that promotes exquisite radiance.
  • Day Matching Powder responds to changes in skin tone throughout the day and maintains a perfect foundation finish.
  • Watery Oil Base provides a uniquely dewy, lustrous finish.
  • Imparts a “glowing veil” to reveal a vibrant luminosity that transcends the natural look of skin.
  • Resists dullness, wear and changes in color throughout the day to retain a beautiful finish for hours.
  • Moisturizes skin and allows you to feel hydrating treatment.
  • Developed with a dewy serum-like texture that glides on as if melting over skin to become one with your complexion and provide a smooth finish.
  • Contains Chestnut Rose Fruit Extract to make skin feel soft providing moisture while preventing skin from looking dull.

The texture is very thin and lightweight. Radiant Fluid Foundation has a very fluid texture with a light floral scent, nothing overpowering. It has light to medium coverage. This starts out as light coverage but it can be built up in certain areas to hit around medium coverage. This will cover some issues like redness, but it won’t cover it all. Your skin will show through. That’s what makes this foundation look so natural. This is a hydrating foundation. It’s never drying in the cheeks.

I tried my fingers, a brush and a sponge to apply this. I found this foundation worked best with a foundation brush. It wasn’t as easy to layer and build up with my fingers. A brush really was the best method for applying this foundation. It has a perfect streak free finish when applied with a brush. I found the Beautyblender was overkill. The Beautyblender is more necessary for cream or heavier foundations. I used both the Tom Ford Cream Foundation Brush(a favorite of mine) and tried the new Sephora PRO Mini Flawless Airbrush. The Sephora brush actually works quite well with it.

I tried a sample of shade O20 first. This was too light so I grabbed O30 or Medium Ochre. This one is perfect for me. It’s a neutral light medium beige with olive, pink and yellow tones. It’s neither too warm, nor cool. Plus it has olive tones. I love this shade, it’s the perfect shade in general for my skin tone. It’s not a shade I commonly see. I would like to try O40 Ochre as the other Cle de Peau Ochre products are good for me a lot. It’s on my list to test next time at the Galleria mall.

The finish is very dewy and radiant. It’s luminous. It gives a very healthy and glowy complexion. The longevity is average, 6-8 hours before fading. I do get some oily spots mid to late day in the tzone with it. It’s also summer right now, this is a hydrating foundation so it will be better suited to me in the fall through spring months. It is truly a foundation for radiant looking skin.

I will say the pump is a bit of a disappointment. The plastic pump feels a bit cheap. For $125 I expected more. The pump works fine, no issues. It just doesn’t feel luxe like Cle de Peau should. I like this foundation. I think it’s a fabulous foundation. If you like light to medium coverage, weightless fluid foundations with a radiant dewy hydrating finish, then this one is for you. Oily skin and those who live in a hot humid climate might test it out first as it’s a dewy hydrating type. It’s pricey so if you can afford it it’s worth checking out as the ochre range of shades is a bit unique.

Zelens Z Luminous: Review

I love Zelens skincare. Z Luminous Brightening Serum is the latest product I’ve finished from their line. Details per Zelens:

Based on a proprietary blend of powerful ingredients, this advanced serum visibly brightens, smoothes and hydrates the skin. Helps diminish the appearance of dark spots and discolouration, evens skin tone and enhances radiance, while refining skin texture. Leaves skin brighter, clearer, softer and younger-looking.

Benefits

  • Reduces the appearance of dark spots and discolourations
  • Evens skin tone, brightens and enhance luminosity
  • Refines skin texture for radiant and younger-looking complexion

This serum is for brightening the complexion, evening the skin tone. This is going to work on dullness and basic pigmentation issues. This is not for people with melasma. You can use it if you have melasma, but it won’t fix it. It will help with any other dullness pigmentation issues you have. The texture is a thin light creamy serum. It has a very faint very Zelens like smell. Which means it’s minimal and pleasant. It’s never heavy or greasy, it’s light and absorbs quickly into the skin.

Does this work? Yes. Not only is it choked full of amazing active ingredients(as always for Zelens) it will brighten your skin tone and reduce normal pigmentation-minus melasma sufferers like myself sorry. I love that this isn’t harsh like some brightening products. It feels more like an anti-aging serum than just a brightening serum. It comes packaged in a sleek frosted glass bottle with a pump. Perfect packaging for me.

This is a little pricey. However, it’s quite good. I would repurchase. Like any anti-aging skincare product this is not going to make all your skin care issues go away. It can make them better, in this case evening your skin tone to a nice glowy finish.

Rituel de Fille Rare Light Luminizer Solaris: Swatches

I’ve written about Rituel de Fille Rare Light Luminizers a few times. They have become one of my favorite cream highlighters. I love their stiffer creamy texture with the pearly iridescent shifting colors. Solaris is a new limited edition shade that just launched. Details per Rituel de Fille:

Rare Light Luminizer: Inspired by extraordinary light phenomena, each shade imparts an ethereal glow—with a highlight that subtly shifts and transforms to reveal a remarkable depth of color.

As the light rises just above the horizon line, look up to the sky in awe. An all-seeing eye gazes back with illumination that is at once overwhelming, beautiful, complex and extraordinary. Refracted through the atmosphere, it diffuses in a soft, dreamy glow at the edges of vision.

Inspired by celestial light, we have created two uncanny colors in our new Rare Light Luminizers: Lunaris and Solaris. These opalescent shades capture the duality of the moon and sun, and the dimensional radiance of night and day.
With ethereal translucence on the skin and an intense iridescent color shift, Lunaris and Solaris are both highly adaptable—and stunning on a wide range of complexions. The effect is a truly striking lit-from-within look in impossibly beautiful shades.

This formula is one of my favorite cream highlighters. It’s stiffer so it lasts a long time. Yet it’s not too stiff to not be able to apply smoothly. See a more detailed review here and here. The luminizer has a faint lavender scent. I love that the formula is not greasy and soft yet it’s not too stiff and hard. It’s the perfect cream texture for a highlighter.

Solaris is described as The sun hangs low in the sky, reflected in glowing spires. Heat captured in the earth radiates upward, shimmering at the corona. Solaris captures the warmth of sunlight in a flash of warm, soft, radiant red fire within translucent opal. The color is a warm red pearl opal in a beige base. The base basically goes to clear on me and all I see is the fiery red pearl. It looked more pink in the pan but once applied and swatched it’s definitely more red and warm.

I love the warm red pearly glow it gives my skin. This is not a highlighter shade that will lighten the skin, it adds more of a glow to it. I love using it on top of eyeshadows as well. Adds a red pearl to them. It’s lip safe per Rituel de Fille’s Instagram. I tried it on my lips, it was too drying but the red pearl was fun. A bit too light for my tastes. The base shows up better on lips than my cheeks. Sadly it’s limited edition. I highly recommend you check out one shade of the Rare Light Luminizers if you like cream highlighters that shift colors and are unique.

Exfoliants: Current Favorites

I was asked to write a post about my Top 5 exfoliants. When I say exfoliants I mean chemical exfoliants. Physical exfoliants are your scrubs and things that manually remove dead skin cells. Chemical exfoliants are things like peels, serums and toners that use Alpha Hydroxy Acids(AHA) or Beta Hydroxy Acids(BHA). There’s also a newer category Poly Hydroxy Acids(PHA). The purpose of using chemical exfoliants is to remove dead surface skin cells to encourage cell renewal and turnover. They help with acne, pigmentation and dark spots, overall texture of the skin as well as brightness and an even tone, and fine lines and wrinkles.

AHA(glycolic, malic, tartaric, mandelic, citric and lactic acids) benefits: Helps with sun damage, adds moisture by binding water to skin, removes upper layer of skin revealing more even, smoother skin, promotes cell turnover. This helps with pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles as well as reducing pore size. Overall, it’s your anti-aging acids. Glycolic acid commonly comes in 5, 10, 15 or 20% concentrations and is OK to use during pregnancy. Not everyone lists the percentage of glycolic acid on their product. Lactic acid also rarely has a percentage listed on it. Glycolic acid can be drying to the skin and cause irritation(burning, stinging, tingling). People with sensitive skin may want to test out the product containing it first.

BHA(salicylic acid) benefits: Best for acne and breakouts, large pores, black heads, it’s anti-inflammatory,  and antibacterial which can make it good for rosacea as well. It really unclogs oils in the pores and helps reduce oil overall on the skin. Think of it as the acid that removes all the glue stuck in your pores to clear them out. It’s not just for acne sufferers. Usually comes in 1-4% concentrations. I did avoid BHA’s during pregnancy even though 2% concentrations are supposed to be safe.

PHA(gluconolactone, galactose and lactobionic acid) benefits: These have the same anti-aging benefits as AHA. PHAs are larger molecules than AHA which has been shown to mean less irritation and drying out of the skin. It’s gentler. Good for sensitive skin types. PHA also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These are new and not in as many exfoliating products. I just started to venture into them, so none of them are listed in this post. Maybe in a future one.

Whether you choose a toner, serum or peel for your chemical exfoliation needs is personal preference. I like to use all three. This post is all about toners and serums. Leave on exfoliants. I use peels a few times a week. I use some form of toner/serum exfoliant on a daily basis. Always use a sunscreen when using these types products as they can make your skin more sensitive to sun damage. One tip to prevent irritation from AHA is to apply them on dry skin, not wet right after a toner. This helps reduce the stinging.

Drunk Elephant’s T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum was one of the first serums I used on a regular basis. I also experimented with quite a few from Paula’s Choice but liked Drunk Elephant the best as it’s less irritating to my skin than Paula’s Choice was. I’ve talked about it some here. This one has a clear serum like texture, doesn’t really sting nor give me many adverse effects. It’s not the strongest concentration AHA serum, so the effects will be milder than if you are a regular 20% glycolic acid user. This one also has a 1% BHA concentration, so it’s still pregnancy safe. This boost will help unclog some pores along with the anti-aging AHAs. The reason I reach for this one time and time again it that it’s a lesser AHA concentration so it’s easy to tolerate for daily use with a the bonus 1% of BHA.

A 12% AHA/BHA night serum that helps refine and resurface skin to reveal a smoother and more radiant looking complexion. T.L.C. Framboos™ enhances the performance of other products by clearing the way for maximum absorption. This high-tech gel resurfaces dull skin, gently lifting dead skin cells away by dissolving the glue that holds them to the surface. The results are greater clarity and a smoother, more even looking complexion. Formulated with our dream team AHA/BHA blend including Glycolic, Lactic, Tartaric, Citric and Salicylic acids and blended with raspberry extract, T.L.C. Framboos™ sinks in easily and delivers effective and precise chemical exfoliation without the harsh side effects like dryness or sensitization. Horse chestnut and white tea help to soothe. Fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration along with excess oiliness and pores will appear dramatically diminished. Go from a drab complexion to an absolutely luminous one, practically overnight!

Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 is an acid toner. It’s a strong one. It uses AHA, BHA and PHA so you’re going to get the benefits of all of the acids. Review here. It’s pricey, but it works well. It’s the strongest of all the Lotion P50 toners. I can’t use this everyday. Every other day or 3x/week. It smells strongly of vinegar which I dislike, but the effects are so great I tolerate it. The Lotion P50 PIGM 400 is next on my list to try. I hear it’s a touch milder with brightening properties. I think whichever version of Lotion P50 works for you is worth hunting down as it’s probably hands down the best all around acid toner.

The Lotions P50 are Biologique Recherche’s unique acid toners; the fruit of 30 years of reflection and experience. These balancing and exfoliating lotions speed up the epidermis’ natural exfoliating process and the reconstruction of the epidermal shield. The fortified epidermis can then fulfil its protective functions completely, enhancing the skin’s self-regeneration potential. The Lotion P50 ritual is a key stage in all Biologique Recherche skin care programmes; it not only exfoliates, but it also purifies, regenerates and maintains the pH of the epidermis.

The chemical exfoliation of the skin is a procedure that happens thanks to the topical application of a cocktail of hydroxy acids. All Lotions P50 contain a potent combination of AHA, BHA and PHA exfoliants: lactic acid, malic acid, citric acid, salicylic acid and gluconolactone, to act as a chemical exfoliator. As its name indicates, the Lotions P50 gently renews the skin over 50 days – ‘P’ stands for peeling and ‘50’ stands for 50 days – which represents about two epidermal cycles, for a gentle yet effective exfoliating process.

Sunday Riley Good Genes should be tried by everyone at some point. It’s the King of all AHA serums. It’s works beautifully. This is a AHA serum utilizing lactic acid. So if you don’t like glycolic acid this is for you. It’s a strong formula and it’s very effective. Conversely, it smells like cat pee but other than that it it has a fabulous ingredient list and works beautifully. Review here. I alternate using a bottle of this with Drunk Elephant. I almost like this one better, but I do like the all around AHA/BHA less irritating Drunk Elephant version. Good Genes is quite strong. For being strong it doesn’t really sting or anything. I don’t find it too harsh to use everyday. I wouldn’t apply it over open blemishes to avoid severe stinging/burning. That goes for all AHA/BHA exfoliants.

Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment is formulated with high potency, purified grade lactic acid that immediately exfoliates dull, pore-clogging dead skin cells, revealing smoother, fresher, younger-looking skin. Fine lines appear visually plumped while the skin looks more radiant. With continued use, the appearance of stubborn hyperpigmentation and the visible signs of aging are reduced for a healthier-looking complexion. Perfect for all skin types and all ages, this treatment is enhanced with licorice for brightening, Good Genes clarifies, smooths, and retexturizes for instant radiance.

I threw The Ordinary’s Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2% in here for it’s price point. While I do prefer Sunday Riley Good Genes for a lactic acid only serum, The Ordinary 10% Lactic Acid is good for it’s price point. Review here. The Ordinary is milder than Good Genes. It does have a peppery melon scent which is nice. If you want an anti-aging AHA product for under $10 this is one of the better choices out there.

Lactic Acid is an alpha hydroxyl acid that exfoliates the skin. This 10% formulation offers mild exfoliation and is supported with a purified Tasmanian pepperberry known to reduce signs of inflammation and sensitivity that is often associated with exfoliation. This formula contains a studied Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use. This derivative is of plant origin and varies in colour seasonally and this colour variation may be apparent in the formula from time to time.

Rene Rouleau Pro Results Power Serum was a recent purchase for me. This is a clear serum that will kick your skins butt. It’s quite powerful. I couldn’t use this everyday nor is it designed for everyday use. It’s designed to use three nights on, three nights off. I tend to use 1-2 times a week and it does fine for me at giving my skin an AHA power boost of radiance. Don’t use this after an acid toner nor after an acid peel/mask. This is way too strong. This is also in lieu of the nightly exfoliant serum like Drunk Elephant or Good Genes. Replace your usual with this one a few times a week. Review here.

Pro Results Power Serum dramatically repairs the visible effects of sun damage by lifting dry cells and brown spots to reveal a smoother, brighter texture. Pro Results Power Serum by Renée Rouleau transforms the skin to a dramatically smoother finish while working to help it remember its once youthful form, suppleness and bounce. This dark spot corrector is a powerful blend of 20% lactic, glycolic and mandelic acids which gently lift surface sun damage discoloration and reduces visible lines and pore size to reveal smoother skin.

Last up is The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution. This is a mild AHA acid toner. It’s so much more gentle than Biologique Recherche Lotion P50. It’s also very affordable in comparison. Less irritation does mean less anti-aging effects are achieved. That’s not always a bad thing. This toner is able to be used on a daily basis. The Lotion P50 is not. This is your daily glow toner versus the power toner. It’s going to be good for sensitive skin types or anyone who wants a less strong but still good formula. The ingredient list is good and it’s under $10. You can use this toner and follow with a serum like Drunk Elephant and you won’t irritate your skin. Review here.

With 7% Glycolic Acid, Amino Acids, Aloe Vera, Ginseng and Tasmanian Pepperberry. Glycolic Acid is an alpha hydroxyl acid that exfoliates the skin. This 7% toning solution offers mild exfoliation for improved skin radiance and visible clarity. The formula also improves the appearance of skin texture with continued use.

This formula contains a studied Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use. This derivative is of plant origin and varies in colour seasonally and this colour variation may be apparent in the formula from time to time. The formula is further supported with inclusion of ginseng root and aloe vera for both visible radiance and soothing benefits.

Omorovicza Instant Perfection Serum: Review

It’s no secret I love Omorovicza. I talk about them time and time again. One or more Omorovicza products is always on rotation for me. I started using their new Instant Perfection Serum when it first launched last winter but realized half way through that this was a better summer serum for me. I’ve been using it this summer and I was right. This is a perfect summer serum–An oil-free for smoothing and refreshing oily, combination skin. Details per Omorovicza:

A hydrating skin perfector, this perfectly clear oil-free serum penetrates deep into the skin leaving it smooth, refreshed and rejuvenated. The appearance of lines, wrinkles and pores is instantly diminished revealing a luminous complexion.

Benefits

    • Controls shine
    • Reduces fine lines & wrinkles
    • Visibly radiant

    Key Ingredients

    • Narcissus stem cells enhance brightness, even skin tone and help to reverse sun damage.
    • Xylitol rehydrates skin cells by facilitating intercellular water transfer.
    • Hyaluronic acid helps to plump skin and lock in moisture.
    • Omorovicza’s patented Hydro Mineral Transference™ delivery system leaves skin firmer, more supple and younger-looking.

This comes packaged in the typical Omorovicza clear glass bottle with a pump. Perfect packaging for me. I always prefer a pump, and the bottle is sleek and glass which is luxe. It has a liquid gel serum texture that sinks into the skin quickly.  It’s hydrating, has a light feel to it and manages to help control shine. The scent is very minimal and very Omorovicza. A light earthy, essential oil, natural scent. This serum shouldn’t break anyone out as it’s light and has nothing in it that should irritate anyone. It’s a hyaluronic acid serum with added benefits.

This is probably one of the more simple Omorovicza products or serums I’ve seen them make. It has less ingredients than usual. You still get the benefits of the Hungarian Thermal Waters, combined with a light hyaluronic acid serum. This does help control oil production which is why it’s perfect for summer and daytime use for me. As far as the even skin tone claims I’m not sure about that part. I’ve noticed Narcissus in a lot of serums lately but I’ve never noticed it to do anything for me. My skin did feel refreshed, hydrated and smooth after using. The real bonus is the hydrating oil control for me.

    Ingredients

Aqua (Hungarian Thermal Water), Polysorbate 20, Xylitylglucoside, Anhydroxylitol, Saccharomyces Ferment Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Pullulan, Sodium Hyaluronan, Narcissus Poeticus Callus Extract, Carbomer, Xylitol, Parfum (Fragrance), Sodium Hydroxide, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Glucose, Phospholipids.

Free from synthetic fragrance, colours and parabens, Omorovicza products are powered by a potent blend of Hungary’s mineral-rich healing waters and our patented Hydro Mineral Transference™ delivery system. This is combined with the finest vitamins, essential oils and natural ingredients sourced from across the globe.

I received this to test free of charge. All thoughts are my own.
